February 10, 2026: A Kansas City sports bar of 40 years is opening its first location outside its namesake neighborhood. Brooksider Sportsbar & Grill will take over the former Leawood Hereford House space at 5001 Town Center Drive, in Leawood’s Town Center.
Owners Chuck and Jack Naylor took possession of the building last month and are beginning the transformation process, which is expected to take several months. The opening date is dependent on how long the city’s permitting process takes, but the father-son owners predict it will open in the fall.
“We’re gutting the building,” Jack said. “Turning what was a steakhouse into a sports bar with an event space upstairs.” It won’t be a complete replica of the original location, of course, but customers should expect a similar feel inside (and hopefully outside, too, if they’re able to put a patio in).
It’ll serve the same drinks and bites as its sister spot at 6330 Brookside Plaza. Brooksider’s menu includes Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, veggie wraps, BBQ pulled pork nachos, salads, burgers, and mac and cheese with a variety of fixings. Cocktails include a pineapple jalapeño margarita and an “adults only” cherry limeade.
While the father-son duo have owned the bar for about 14 years, Brooksider got its start in 1985.
Jack told The Star on Monday that he’s looking forward to bringing his concept to his former neighborhood. He was a fan of Paddy O’Quiggley’s on 151st Street, which has been closed for a few years. “I grew up down the street — know the area and the people,” he said. “I know what a good sports bar could do in the area.”
