Olathe Library

Driven by the need for a new, modern library space, the City of Olathe partnered with LANE4 to envision a project that not only serves the current needs, but also ignites the downtown area.  

Our team worked with design partners DLR and Multistudio to redevelop a parking lot and six adjacent residential lots into a multi-purpose library that surpasses the typical library model into one that serves every generation. The library has been instrumental in spurring additional investment into Downtown Olathe, a commitment the City has prioritized. 

Design inspired by the influence of learning, nature and life 

The project houses an interactive children’s activity room, flex-box theatre, gaming suite, history floor, computer rooms, study spaces, local cafe, and office space for the Olathe Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission. The library reaches beyond the building with several inviting outdoor spaces including a rooftop terrace with views of Downtown Olathe, an amphitheater, and the existing Civic Center Park.
